website mission
The main purpose of this website is to provide high quality medical information both for the general public and for health professionals. This is especially so for those who have had some contact with Dr James Hawkins and his work. This information aims to support, not replace, primary sources of healthcare - see disclaimer. James works as a single handed practitioner so the time he devotes to developing this 'Good Knowledge' database is limited. It is intended that the database will grow gradually and steadily. If you find any errors, please contact James. I f you would like to support the development of this site please see the paragraph at the bottom of the page. To enter the database, click on the heading below that best describes the area you are interested in.
exploring good knowledge
Although there is a huge amount of health information available on the web, it is often hard to sift out what is well supported fact from opinions that are commercially slanted, prejudiced or just downright inaccurate. As a medical doctor with wide experience, James is in a good position to act as a guide to the best websites available in his particular areas of interest. Where relevant, the date when information was last updated is displayed. At times in the Good Knowledge database and elsewhere on the web, you may come across PDF (portable document files). They can be viewed and printed out using Adobe's Acrobat Reader. This Reader program, which you must install once on your computer, can be downloaded free by clicking here.
supporting this website
The 'Good Knowledge' information database on this website is a free service developed and maintained by James Hawkins. If you feel providing Good Knowledge is worthwhile, or you would like to see a particular subject area covered more fully and quickly, do consider sponsoring the website's growth. Donations buy time for growing the database. If there are particular areas you would like to see better covered do discuss this with James. Database resources will involve original material and links to other websites evaluated for their relevance, accuracy and usefulness. If you'd like to become a website sponsor, thank you both on behalf of Good Medicine and on behalf of all all who visit this site for help and information. To find out more about sponsorship, please contact James.
